Honey Long & Prue Stent are an Australian duo who in more than ten years of career have brought to life a fluid, grotesque, fascinating non-human world through a hybrid practice between photography and body art.
Artist
Over the past 10 years Australian artists Honey Long and Prue Stent have worked together developing a practice that spans photography, video, performance, installation and sculpture. Continuously exploring the body as a bridge between the personal and the cultural, their work plays with the representation of the feminine and the non-human world.
Honey and Prue have exhibited their work in solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Madrid and Zurich. Notable group exhibitions have taken place in China (2019), Los Angeles (2018), London (2018), Gold Coast (2018), Melbourne (2017) and Poland (2017).
In 2023 their first monographic book Drinking from the Eye was published by Perimeter Books and they will exhibit with Spazio Gomma for the first time in Italy.
Exhibition
In Grotto, Long and Stent present a series of surreal snapshots that speak to mystery through nature and femininity.
They let us enter a synthetic cave of their imagination, dotted with twisted, aquatic and shimmering shapes.
The artists use their camouflaged bodies, allowing faceless apparitions to emerge from the female form. Sometimes statuesque, sometimes creators, the bodies in Grotto inhabit a timeless space.
